It’s All About the Details: Strappy Sandals & Intricate Backs

Arizona State University might not be know as one of the best-dressed schools in the country, but these stylish Sun Devils are striving to change that. They are attacking the fashion scene in a sneaky way; they are are using little details to amp up their style factor, instead coming right at you with a $2,000 Balenciaga bag.

“Style is all about balance. If I’m wearing basic denim shorts, I’d pair it with strappy sandals or a crop top with a cool design to balance out the casual shorts,” Madeline Stack said.

The first Sun Devil fashionista, is sophomore Madeline Stack. At first glance, her outfit seems like nothing more than a simple top and some cut-off denim shorts, but when you look a little closer, there’s more than meets the eye. Her basic Ten.60.Sherman tank has over-lapping fabric panels in the back that grab your attention, because you don’t notice them right off the bat. When you work your way down to her feet, you’ll find studded Steve Madden sandals that wrap around her ankles. The tiny studs on her shoes and subtle detailing in the back of shirt elevate this basic silhouette to make it cool, eye-catching and, of course, stylish.

To achieve the “all about the details” look, simply start with any basic pair of shorts. After that, add in a top that is basic in the front but elaborate and detailed in the back. Look for crochet, cut-outs or lace to make any simple silhouette appear extra special. Now, it’s time for the best part of any outfit: the shoes. Because it’s summer time, the boots should probably be left in the closest to avoid heatstroke (it is Arizona, after all). Gladiator sandals serve as the perfect shoe to wear on a hot day, because they will keep your feet cool and comfy, while also adding a little extra sparkle to your outfit.
